Description:
Obverse
The coin commemorates courage and heroism, unconquerability and love of freedom of people from all generations defending the national interests; it is dedicated to the Day of Defender of Ukraine. By tradition, this holiday is celebrated on 14 October, the day of the Protection of Holy Virgin, which also got its other name - Cossacks` Protection of Holy Virgin. The holiday is associated with such concepts as military honor, courage, bravery and knighthood. The image of Virgin Mary holding a long white veil has become a kind of talisman of Ukraine, a symbol of its eternal striving for harmony and peace.
Obverse: against the background of the ornament there is depicted the following: the figure of the Holy Virgin under whose omophorion there are Cossacks (to the left) and present-day warriors and defenders (to the right); the Small Coat of Arms of Ukraine (to the left);and the mark of the Mint of the National Bank of Ukraine (to the right).
Reverse
On the reverse: against the background of the camouflage (pad printing) there is the conventionalized trident - the Mark of the Ducal State of Volodymyr the Great, above there are inscriptions:
