Enrico De Nicola, temporary head of state, signed the act of promulgation of the Constitution of the Italian Republic on December 27, 1947; on his right, Alcide De Gasperi, president of the Council, on his left Umberto Terracini, president of the Italian Constituent Assembly. Above the inscription "COSTITUZIONE" and the monogram of the Italian Republic "RI"; below the words "CON SICURA COSCIENZA", the mint mark "R" and the dates "1948 • 2018", respectively the year of the entry into force of the Italian Constitution and the year of issue of the coin; on the left the initials "UP" of the author Uliana Pernazza. On the outer edge, the twelve stars of the European Union.
