Eight auspicious symbols referred to by the designation Astamangala are depicted around periphery: Sankha (conch), Punkalasa (filled vessel), Srivatsa, Camara (fly-whisk), Ankusa (elephant goad), Matsy-yugala (pair of fish), Nandyavarta (curvilinear svastika) and Bhadrapitha (auspicious seat).
